I remember when I learned to tie my shoes. What can you do all by yourself?

Learning how to let other people help is also important.

Naaman was very sick. The little girl knew God was powerful. She told a woman in her new home about God’s special preacher named Elisha.

Naaman accepted help from the little girl and went to see Elisha.

Elisha loved God. Elisha told Naaman that God wanted Naaman to dip into the muddy Jordan river 7 times.

The muddy water was yucky. A slave is someone FORCED to obey someone else. Slaves are not safe. Slaves are not loved. Slaves do not have a choice.

God’s people, the Israelites, were slaves in Egypt. The Israelites had terrible lives with hard work all the time (Ex 1:19).

God gave the Israelites freedom by sending ten plagues (very bad stuff) to Egypt (Ex. 1-12). After the plagues, the pharoah (king) of Egypt let the slaves go free.

We are not slaves, but we also obey some people. Who do we obey? parents? grandparents? teachers?

How is obeying a teacher different from being a slave?

A slave works to help the owner. The slave does not gain anything. The slave is not loved by the owner. The slave has no choice.

We obey our teachers because the rules are for our good. School rules keep us safe and help us learn. We need the skills we learn in school to care for our families. Some teachers may even love us!

God gives us rules for safety and freedom. Can you think of some of God’s rules?

Keep God as the most important person in your life.

Don’t make things more important than God.

<span style="color:...Read More

Apple trees have apples. Christians -- people who have decided to let God be the boss of them -- should ‘look’ like they belong to God.

Does this mean that Christians need to wear certain clothes? No - people will know that we are Christians by seeing what we do.

Galatians 5:22-23 says “But the fruit of the Spirit

is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

It’s not easy to always show all of the fruits of the Spirit. For example, when you have to wait a long time, it’s hard to be patient. We might feel like fussing and getting mad.

When we become Christians, we have God’s Holy Spirit. God’s Holy Spirit gives us the strength and power to do difficult things like being kind when someone isn’t nice.

We all mess up sometimes, but when we make mistakes, we can ask God to forgive us and make a plan for how to do better next time.

God loves us. Some people show friends or family love with candy, cards, or other things. Today, we will discover Bible facts about Joseph who showed his love to his family even though his family had treated him badly.

In Genesis 37, we learn about a boy named Joseph. He was kind of a tattle-tale who liked to brag. Added to that, his daddy, Jacob, treated Joseph better than all of Joseph’s brothers.

Joseph’s older brothers “hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.” Gen. 37:4b

When Joseph was 17, Joseph’s brothers sold him as a slave! He would have to go far away to Egypt with people he didn’t know!

Joseph had to go through some very difficult times in Egypt. In fact, Joseph even had to go to prison for a while even though he hadn’t done anything wrong. In time, through God’s blessings, Joseph became the second most important person in the entire country of Egypt.

About 20 years later, the only food in the whole area was in Egypt, and Joseph was in charge of deciding who would get the food.

Joseph’s brothers needed food. They went to Egypt and were brought to Joseph. Joseph knew who they were, but Joseph looked very different. His brothers didn’t recognize him.

<span style="color:...Read More
